HAPPY HOLIDAYS! And to share a bit of humor...

Hi! I just wanted to wish all of you a wonderful holidays! So... Merry Christmas/Happy Hanukkah/Happy Kwanzaa/Happy Holidays! <3

As for the humour... I recently bought a little book at my university bookstore, and I've been reading it in little bits on and off. It's called Plato and a Platypus Walk into a Bar... It's a hilarious but thoughtful philosophical jokeboke, and I recently read a surreptitiously inserted reference to God as a she. (Also to note, the following comments and thoughts are not meant to anyone, and I hope no one finds anything offensive, it IS a joke book at heart.) I then bring this to my sister's attention, and somehow or another our conversation ends up in the strange stream of evidence of his gender (if he has any), and while I take a strict stance of I don't have any, my sister, is still little and eleven and has the funniest understanding of God's gender and ends up asking me:

How do I Know that he didn't have sex with Mary when she got to Heaven?

Anyone has an answer? XD

Anyway, just a last little joke from the same book by Thomas Cathcart and Daniel Klein:

On Pragmatism:

A woman reports her husband's disappearance to the police. They ask her for a description, and she says, "He's six feet, three inches tall, well-built, with thick, curly hair."
Her friend says, "What are you talking about? Your husband is five-feet-four, bald, and has a huge belly."
And she says, "Who wants that one back?"
(expanded)
The police say, "Lady, we are asking you for a description of your husband that corresponds to your actual husband."
The woman responds, "Correspondence, shmorrespondence! Truth cannot be determined solely by epistemological criteria, because the adequacy of those criteria cannot be determined apart from the goals sought and values held. That is to say, in the end, truth is what satisfies, and, God knows, my husband didn't do that."

And with that I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season with lots of comfort, happiness, and laughs. (^_^)

LOL. Your sister amuses me. XD

About gender, I honestly don't know what I believe, but what I find interesting about that debate is that most Muslims insist that He has no gender. I don't know if this is opinion or if this is stated anywhere as "fact" (though how they managed that one, I'll never know, but most religions find ways to insist upon "facts" that aren't very... factually based), but I always find it so amusing. I think I actually like that response though... because if you think about it, God's gender is really a ploy on proving which gender is better--the gender God created based on His (or Her) gender is so "obviously" the better one. Or that's how I always saw it. It's different for us, though, because we don't really believe he's human in the slightest.

And Merry Christmas! And whenever your mom comes home, say hello for me.

XD She amuses me too.

And I did bring up the fact that God might not have any gender at all. *shrugs* She started bringing up Jesus's existence as proof, and I mentioned Immaculate Conception, and then she brought up the question above. That was our conversation in short terms at least... I just brought up the fact that Mary having sex with God while she was technically married to Joseph would be adultery... That stumped her for a while, until she began mentioning human body parts *cough* to me, and I decided it was best to end the conversation. (-_-)"""" LOL!

And hee Happy Holidays! How are you doing with the essays?

LOL. Really, your sister is amusing.

I... still have not started any essays. I got my Pompeii grade. A-. Blahh. I imagine the other two classes I didn't even do that well in... I won't know until January 5 now...

LOL. I didn't deny it.

And aww... don't worry... I really should work on my papers and my TF just sent out an e-mail concerning the questions he's been receiving about the final papers. Mine has not been among them, since I don't know if I have any questions concerning the likes of Darwin and Galileo yet, and what I should do concerning them. (^_^)"

And congrats! (Yes, I know..., but What are you talking about?!? A- is a great grade! And your other grades will be amazing and great as well). *poke*

I guess... Maybe... Probably not.

Good luck with your work too, whenever you decide to work on them. Though I still think it's perfectly fine to avoid them--it IS Christmas!
