"Heartless" originally sung by Kanye West as covered by Dia Frampton on The Voice: (so amazing, it blew my DAD away, which says a lot since he's not very into these sort of things)
Please click here, because I can't embed this one, but it's really SO good.
( Music! Who doesn't love music? :D )
And that led me to this:
Which, as he placed in the description, "For the past 2 weeks, 60 pianos were installed all over the streets of NYC...in the parks, on the streets, in the plazas. The project, developed by British artist Luke Jerram, is called "Play Me, I'm Yours" and was presented in NYC by Sing for Hope. Living in this city can make you feel pretty isolated and small. But imagine walking down the street with thousands of people rushing by, cars honking, pigeons almost flying into you, and seeing a group of people gathered around a piano connecting with one another. And then walking a few more blocks and seeing the same thing again in a totally different environment. And then seeing it again, and again, a stage where the whole world is listening and willing to share. It was a brilliant experience, and I'm very grateful to have been a part of it. I hope you enjoy the video!"
The idea, of which, was developed by this person:
( Luke Jerram )
Just, my general reaction - OHMYGOSHSOAWESOME!!! :)
That said, has anyone on my f-list watched "The Sing-Off"? Because I mainlined the second season relatively recently and can't stop thinking about it. XD
EDIT: Of note, these events were held in the summer (of course). Precipitation (and actually, most environmental factors) don't mix well with pianos sadly. :) Anyway, music to all! And to all a good night! *hugs*
Anyway, this is just a fanmix/writing hybrid project - I hope you enjoy the music. This is both my first fanmix AND my first attempt at photoshop, so I apologize if it's not very good, but all the same - the music is music (eclectic at times as it can be), and I hope everyone enjoys it, and maybe, can imagine bits of their Laura in it as well - living through those scenes.
( Lost and Found Here... )

That said - re: title of entry:
There's no embedding allowed, but basically - they are making a movie out of the musical Nine! I am so excited. :D I saw the production they did with students here at the theater and absolutely LOVED it. And I finally saw and fell in love with Chicago recently, so I am thrilled to see this one! *SQUEES AND HAPPY FLAILINGS!* Also, JUDI DENCH is in this one. JUDI DENCH. And she's playing the PRODUCER. Frak. I really want to see this. LOL I don't know what happened to my patience.
There's something so completely different about watching a musical on stage and watching one on screen, but I LOVE both forms and their unique offerings... and just - *dances around looney* (Now all they have to do is pull through that rumored production of Sunset Boulevard and it'd be a great, musical year next year XD.)
Okay back to studying. (^_^)
Also, sidenote - if anyone's interested and has 500 Days of Summer playing near them - it was a funny and awesome movie (then again, my tastes vary widely on this front XD) - but it's a fun movie to watch with girlfriends. :D
I'm a bit nervous about these, because, I'm not quite sure they fit. They run on similar themes to my last MOL entry - an "artisan" series of sorts. The first is a fic that is more gen than AR-centric, but IS AR (primarily part III). (The story itself was an old concept from last year, a bit adjusted, but mostly preserved as it was without knowledge of 4.5 with some adjustments made with knowledge of 4.5.) The second... the second... part is a piano piece, a sort of theme and variations on Bear's "Adama and Roslin" Theme composed and played by me (*shudders*) - called "Dancing in Variation". Therefore at its very core - I own nothing.
Title: Trompe L'oeil: A Triptych
Rating: PG (+?)
AN/Disclaimer: Please see above.
( ...illusionary life. )
Title: Dancing in Variation
Length: approx. 4 minutes more or less
AN/Disclaimer: I had never done anything like this before, but the idea of the project came to me last year, and I started working on it a few months ago. The theme was taken from Bear's beautiful "Roslin and Adama" theme. I do not own it. (There is also a solo piano version somewhere in the dossiers of deleted BSG 4.5 footage that would surpass anything I could do.) In writing this, I attempted to re-paint an idea, through this theme, of the AR relationship. It starts off staid and slow, and tries to follow the path and development of their relationship through the seasons to where they ended up. At times, painfully slow but solid, imperfect sometimes, conflicted and frenetic and not a bit lost... I'm hoping this is okay... Please enjoy. (And of course, all mistakes in playing - sadly - are my own. Recordings make me frightfully nervous. Also sorry about the strong reverb.)
( hoping for the best )
So here's how it works:
- Open your choice of music player and put it on shuffle.
- Press play.
- For every question type the song thats on.
- And when you go to a new question press the next button.
- No cheating! (I skipped over the ones in a foreign language though.)
Post this in your journal and show everyone the Soundtrack To Your Life
( Here to Strangeness... Then Life is Strange I guess.... )
Well... off to continue school-reading... I hope.
So, it’s been a while, and I’ve been busy (sort of). (^_^) I hope everyone else is well (and that amethysth has not commited any mental murder of a certain author yet, LOL).
I’m reading a really good book right now, interspersed between my studying (-_-)”, called “Firefly Lane” by Kristin Hannah. I might post a review when I finally finish.
I finished reading the “Kare Kano” manga (and I refuse to watch the anime since I’m spoiled for the quality in which it ends), which was AMAZING thought the ending was a bit iffy for me. There was a play that the students in the manga wrote and performed concerning human androids, perfection, love, God, madness, and the end of the world that sort of reminded me of BSG…. I wonder why? XD Anyways, The English translation of the manga is called, accurately so, “His and Her Circumstances.” The author is also very into opera and music, and I got an amazing rec from her. It’s a song from the movie “The Piano” by Michael Nyman. It’s called “The Heart Asks Pleasure First,” and I was going to try embedding it again, but I have too many problems when I try to, so here’s a URL to the music video for the song:
Also, there’re these comment-ficcies I did on the F_B community during the BSG hiatus flails on Friday: (The first two are sort of short and fun; the last is sort of sad and Laura-centric and based on the episode “Sacrifice”. As for ratings, I’m pretty sure they’re all safe because I’m unable to write anything higher than T.)
( Jealousy is a fun emotion to play with... Unless you're the green-eyed monster )

And finally, a meme from caramelapples11:
Everyone has things they blog about. Everyone has things they don't blog about. Challenge me out of my comfort zone by telling me something I don't blog about, but you'd like to hear about, and I'll write a post about it. Ask for anything: latest movie watched, last book read, favorite type of underwear, life experiences etc. Re-post in your own journal so that we can all learn more about each other.
For MOL V with Prompt: courage
Spoilers: Anything up to and including 'Revelations'
Summary:They love, even in the intertwining boundaries of dream and reality, and it's in the boundaries between love and despair that they find themselves.
I feel as if I should seriously start studying since I said I would only freely enjoy summer vacation only up to the point of my Birthday and then spend the next two months studying for my make-up finals (I wish I didn't miss them... it's really hard going back to those class materials after so long). But... I'm still dawdling. I have books and fics I want to read, a strange need to write, and just... recovering from the basic lack of energy that marked my life two months ago. (--)" But I feel really guilty. *sigh* I guess I should stop complaining and just do everything.
Oh! I ordered and received Two Small Voices from Amazon along with the Fine Frenzy CD and the book The God of Animals (which I'm looking forward to reading ^_^). The movie was amazing (especially with my weakness for medical litigation), and both actresses excelled. The CD is beyond words. I haven't enjoyed music this much (just to sit back and do nothing except listen... I couldn't help it) in a while, and the lead singer... She is amazingly talented. She wrote all the lyrics which are beautiful and composed most of the music.
If there are one or more people on your friends list who make your world a better place just because they exist, and who you would not have met (in real life or not) without the Internet, then post this same sentence in your journal.
He had Grand Canyon! I was so excited, and I finally saw Mary in it. I rewatched several wonderful bsg episodes. I also rewatched Underworld the other day, X2:X-men United yesterday, and I began re-watching The Phantom of the Opera today. I am still utterly fascinated by that storyline, though a bit altered from the original Leroux version by Webber. I believe my favorite version will probably alway's be in Susan Kay's multi-perspective Phantom, her own version with both combined Leroux's and Webber's influences.
Two of my favorite scenes from the movie is above. (The choreography is utterly stunning.)
As for re-visiting great loves, my music collection is kind of getting a very strong workout, as well as re-reading beloved fics. The only thing I'm missing is a nice collection of books. I only have one with me at the moment, which I'm sort of afraid of finishing actually. It's a memoir, and it is quite fascinating.
Oh! I'm also watching a Chinese TVB drama series with one of my favorite Chinese actors in it. I absolutely adore most of his work. He's pretty incredible and nicely intense. And because I don't actually know how to embed correctly, the opening to one of my favorite dramas with him in it is the first vid above... (^^)"
EDIT: Uhmm... nevermind, embedding... I fail at it.
I was tagged bycaramelapples11. (^_^)
List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they're not any good, but they must be songs you're really enjoying now, shaping your spring. Post these instructions in your LJ along with your 7 songs. Then tag 7 other people to see what they're listening to.
Not in any actual order:
1. Broken - Seether featuring Amy Lee
2. Everytime We Touch (the slow version) - Cascada
3. "Revolutionary" Etude and Grand Valse Brillante - Chopin
4. Everything Changes - Staind
5. Impossible Dream and Man of La Mancha - Linda Eder
6. What If - Reba
7. Breathe Me - Sia
I tag whoever on my friends list that haven't done this yet and wants to. (^^)""""
Uhmm... so yes, I have been sick for the past two days and an unsightly ton of work to look forward to, but for the moment I am quite content to just do this:
Oh WOW... Oh wowwowwowwowowowowowww!
I'm just a teensy bit out of my mind at the moment with my head still hurting but with watching the premier of Battlestar Galactica... It was amazingawesomefantastic... And just... oh wow... there were times where I thought it lagged a bit, but he A/R moments more than made up for it, and gosh... it was so worth going TV-hunting on campus for. Just... I love Laura Roslin and Mary... Mary was just... her facial expressions... gosh.... and Bill's/Eddie's dilemma. He made it so real for the viewers, and just... (0_0)...
Now... I have fanfiction... with Latin, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, and Expository Writing. Hence, my need for a little bit of extreme goodness/funness in my life. And Gosh... I CAN'T wait a week... just Kara and Laura... (*_*)
On the other hand... I'm having fun listening to the BSG soudtrack. (^_^) It's way pretty.
Almost a weekly update pretty much... (^^)". Yep. So yes, uhmm, classes are okay; my first set of midterms is coming up. (o_o) I'm avoiding panic by avoiding serious thought of the exams. If only perception can actually become reality. (-_-)
I spent the evening at the risk of going deaf. It was a charity concert by these indie rock bands for mental health issues, and I don't know. I only lasted with my friend through half of the first set. The room was way too small to adequately handle the sound, and yeah, my ears still hurt.
As for anything else, I loved watching the Step Up movies, really nice dancing. (^_^)" Uhmm... I've watched half of "Hairspray" too, but I haven't finished that one yet. (o_o)... I'm on a media run basically. I've also watched the Reba episode of CMT: Giants twice in the past two days, which is pretty insane, but I just love it. Uhm... I've just upped my music craze as well recently thanks to some really good recs and some nice Youtube discoveries.
Oh yeah. Dance rehearsal is fun, tiring fun, but still fun. Walking back to dorm at midnight after a two hour rehearsal when it is freezing outside is a bit daunting though.
Off to read new manga chapters: "Eyeshield 21" is good... (^^)" And I'm waiting to see what happens between Ryoma and Yukimura. Meanwhile, PSet and Lab Report to finished along with writing assignment and Latin poems to translate.
The day started with my first Latin exam of the new semester, and with little sleep since I was up until four last night finishing... Physics... ughh... That subject shall kill me one day.
Oh, yes, the high. See the day was not all too pleasant to start out with but then I got some of my stuff from Amazon!... And yes, I'm still crazy about Reba, so I've been reading her second book ("Country from a Country Quilt") which is just plain adorable (I've never used that word to describe a book before either..., but it is), and I'm still listening to her LIVE album right now, and I just have to do this really quickly:
Reba, you are totally rocking my world!
I'm a nerd; I know that, and I've accepted it, but no, really. I just got the CD today, and here I am sitting in front of my computer in awe as she is performing vocal acrobatics. She really needs to get another live album out... (^_^)
Oh, and I also got her "Forever Love" movie on DVD...
On the other hand, I also watched an awesome movie the other night, if you like Japanese animation or stuff in the style of Miyazaki, I definitely recommend it. It just have that touch of magic mixed into the realism, and combine that with out of this world storytelling and animation style, and you'll get what I mean. It's called "The Millenium Actress."
Sorry that I've practically disappeared from LJ the past two weeks. First, my computer at home died.... a horrible and tragic death, and I was without a computer (except for my laptop which has no internet connection at home). So, yeah, I just got to college campus this Saturday, and everything has been just wild (though it is pretty nice here) what with settling in, meeting people, meetings in general, required reading, and placement exams, I've been just a bit off, and I probably won't get a chance to get a look at my friends page for while yet, so please have patience with me. (^^)"
On another note, I haven't seemed to mentioned that I've discovered a new love: COUNTRY MUSIC!!! I ordered a package of CD's from Amazon, but it's at home right now (;_;) I absolutely love Reba McEntire to death. She was really the one who opened the genre up for me. Before, I had only heard a few country singers like Shania Twain and Martina McBride, but my horizons has just expanded a little. XD
Anyways, I will be back. See ya.
